Milwaukee Public Museum's Body Worlds, and Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum Tour
Experience the Mystery of the Human Body:
Body Worlds: The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies
Body Worlds is a first-of-its-kind exhibit which uses the groundbreaking preservation process of Plastination—a process that replaces water in the body tissues with fluid plastics that harden, allowing the bodies to be fixed into lifelike poses to illustrate how our bodies respond internally to movements and everyday activities. Showcased are more than 200 real human specimens and more than 20 whole-body displays, allowing viewers to see inside the complex network of muscles, tendons and blood vessels that make up our human body.
Overlooking Lake Michigan, the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum was designed and built in the style of an Italian Renaissance villa by architect David Adler in 1923. The museum features fine and decorative arts dating from the 15th through the 18th centuries, wrought-iron masterpieces by Cyril Colnik, newly refurbished formal gardens, and changing exhibitions.
