Exhibit Details
Developed by the Smithsonian Museum, Earth from Space presents 41 spectacular large color photographs of the Earth, captured by satellites orbiting the planet. This visually stunning exhibition explains how satellites gather data for meteorologists, urban planners, geologists, fire fighters and others. This exhibit also contains a Magic Planet interactive.
Bus Money and Free Admissions Available
The Neville Public Museum has received a SITES Grant from the Smithsonian. With this grant the museum is able to offer $150 towards school buses for up to 15 schools, and admission for up to 80 people per school group. After these costs, the school is responsible for any additional fees.
Students visiting the exhibit will learn how we use satellites to map the earth and see evidence of human impact on the earth. Teachers visiting the exhibit will also receive an Earth From Space Poster for their classroom and special Earthshots cards to be used in their class. Students visiting the exhibit can either have a guided tour or can do a self-guided activity sheet.
If you are interested in bringing your students to this exhibit contact the Curator of Education at 448-7851 or Welter_MT@co.brown.wi.us. The offer is open to the first 15 schools grades 5-12 that have a group of 40 or more students. It is on a first come first serve basis.
