Rockwood Lodge

Accession Number:
#18.1988.3484
Published Date:
01/01/2009

Located near the present Bay Shore Park, the Lodge and surrounding acreage was purchased in the 1940s from the Green Bay Diocese. Curly Lambeau’s intention was to use the facilities for team lodging and practice during training camp. Unfortunately, the practice field only consisted of a thin layer of topsoil and solid bedrock causing numerous player injuries. The team soon had to be bussed back to their old practice field in Green Bay. The building burned in 1950. The Henry Lefebvre Collection.
