All About

Historic images created from and reflective of local lives, make the photograph collection one of the Neville Public Museum's strongest assets.

A hallmark of this collection is a group of over one million negatives taken for the Green Bay Press-Gazette from 1950-1980. Over 100,000 prints and cased images complement several special collections of works by local photographers.

Moving Images

Four million feet of news film from three local network stations animate local and national events since 1953.

Using This Collection

Private individuals, researchers, educators, commercial interests, and non-profit agencies use this collection. The Museum’s staff provides personal assistance in locating and reproducing work from this collection. Appointments for access to the Photograph Collection can be made by calling the Museum.

Commercial Photo Sales

The origins of the Neville Public Museum of Brown County began in 1915, when nine local women formed the Green Bay Art Club and held a modest exhibit of rare and important objects owned by area residents. From this humble beginning in the basement of the former Kellogg Library on Jefferson St., the museum's permanent collection today includes over 100,000 objects and more than half a million images that represent our local and regional businesses and communities.

Your commercial purchase provides financial support for the Neville Public Museum's Digital Initiative. The purpose of the Digital Initiative is to make historical images available to the public in fulfilment of the museum's mission of championing history, science and the arts.  Your support allows us to bridge communities by sharing this historic photograph archive with the world, while preserving these snapshots in time for future generations.
