FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Green Bay Art Colony: A Celebration of 100 Years to Open at the Neville Museum

Green Bay, WI---January 12, 2015---The Neville Public Museum will kick off its 100th Anniversary with the Green Bay Art Colony: A Celebration of 100 Years exhibit featuring recent works by members of the Green Bay Art Colony.

The history of the Neville and the Art Colony are intricately connected.  Both organizations were founded by the same nine women, who in 1915 created an exhibit featuring women’s shawls.

In light of this history, shawls owned by Colony members will be displayed above one hundred works of art by current members of the Green Bay Art Colony.

The exhibit opening will be celebrated at a reception for Friends of the Neville Museum members on Friday January 16, featuring Theresa Shuck and Carol Jones portraying Sophie Beaumont and Jessie Buchanan, two of the women that founded the Art Colony and the Neville Public Museum.

Green Bay Art Colony: A Celebration of 100 Years opens to the public on Saturday, January 17, 2015.
