Diamonds occur in the heart of every continent, but finding them is a real Sherlockian journey of mystery, detective work, politics, and innovative geology. This presentation takes you on a world-wide quest for diamonds by exploration geologist, author and storyteller Roger Kuhns, and delves into the exciting world of discovering diamonds on the sea floor off of the wild Namibian coast in southern Africa. Kuhns spent years exploring the world, and months exploring the ocean floor with high-tech equipment in search of new diamond deposits. This included fended off bold attempts by competitive diamond hunters. Kuhns’ team ultimately discovered more than 1.5 million carats of diamonds on the sea floor, as well as being involved in the Canadian diamond discoveries. We’ll look at the geology, politics, and adventure of diamond hunting around the world.
