Badger Talks: How is AI Revolutionizing Science?
Tuesday, June 10th
6:00pm – 7:00pm
AI is quickly raising the ambitions of scientists; however, the capabilities that AI enables vary significantly across fields. Kyle Cranmer provides examples and describes some emerging patterns that hint at the diversity of ways that AI will transform scientific practice.
The event is FREE, but regular admission applies to see museum exhibits.
Kyle Cranmer is the David R. Anderson Director of the UW–Madison Data Science Institute (DSI), powered by American Family Insurance. Cranmer leads the institute’s charge: advancing discoveries that benefit society through foundational and use-inspired data science research. He is a professor in the Physics Department with affiliate appointments in Computer Sciences and Statistics.
Badger Talks reflects our tradition of the Wisconsin Idea — to extend the resources of the university to citizens of the state. Over 300 Badger Talks are hosted around the state each year, featuring faculty and staff with expertise in a variety of disciplines. Talk topics range from cutting edge discoveries to happiness in the workplace and everything in between. Professional, community, and civic organizations, as well as schools, are invited to request a UW–Madison speaker.
