Theodor Seuss Geisel is best known as the author of 44 children’s books written under the pen name “Dr. Seuss”. His work includes many of the most popular children's books of all time. In total he created more than 2,0000 published works for advertisements, magazines, and the United States Government, while contributing to over 70 children’s books. Geisel also created art for his own personal enjoyment; this “secret” art is known as his “Midnight Paintings.” The artworks in this exhibit include original character illustrations, surrealist landscapes, and a collection of “Unorthodox Taxidermy” among other Seussical creations, from the collections of collector Daryl Price and collectors William B. Heeter and Kristi Correa. While in this exhibit, engage with fantastical Seussian creatures, say “I could not-would not” with favorite characters, and explore the lesser-known works and worlds of Theodore Seuss Geisel.
