Volunteer & Intern

Volunteer & Intern

The Neville Public Museum would not be able to operate without the help of volunteers.

Volunteer work can be rewarding; it enriches the lives of those who take part.

Volunteers help with a variety of different tasks from working with the public to behind-the-scenes.

Volunteering lets you make use of a skill or hobby you enjoy, share knowledge and memories with young people, spend more time at the museum, and have fun.

New interns are always welcome in the areas of Education, Curation, and Collections Management. These internship positions are volunteer. They provide job experience working in your field, references, and community involvement.

Example internship projects include cataloging objects or photographs, developing an educational packet or researching a subject for an exhibit.

You need not be a Museum Studies major to do an internship at the Neville Public Museum. Interns have been students majoring in foreign languages, English, history, art, biology, education, and business.

Typical internships are 5-10 hours a week during weekdays. The length of internship depends on semester length and the number of credits you are applying for.

A county background check is required. This background check differs from your college background check. This will be requested once an internship has been setup.

Summer Options:
2 exhibits & inventory positions. (Bonus if an applicant has any graphic design experience.)
4 education positions. This will focus on touch carts on busy days and Saturdays.

When contacting the museum about an internship, be sure to indicate which position you are interested in.

Please send cover letters and resumes to [email protected] with the subject line Summer Internship.

The above internships are unpaid.
