Art Selections from the Neville Staff
|Exhibit Opens: 16-Jul-2019
|Exhibit Ends: 31-Aug-2019
Did you know that the Neville is home to more than 2,000 individual pieces of art? In fact, the museum formed in 1915 when nine women whose love of arts set into motion more than a century of collecting and exhibiting artworks. Since that time the collection continues to grow each year. It now includes a wide spectrum of media types and genres by regional and international artists. While works by Pablo Picasso and Howard Pyle are noteworthy, so too are the hundreds works by lesser known artists whose talents stand alone for their museum-quality characteristics.
The twelve artworks on exhibit here represent each museum staff member’s favorite piece of art in the collection. Picking a favorite from such a vast collection can be difficult, but in doing so, it reveals how each work resonates in its own way with our individual personalities. Taken together, these pieces showcase the range of artwork and aesthetic qualities produced over the past 150 years.
